“One day Jesus said to his disciples, ‘let’s go over to the other side of the lake’. So they got into a boat and set out” (Luke 8:22)
Jesus once initiated a voyage across the sea with his disciples. In the middle of the sea, there arose a great storm such that got their boat tossed on the sea portending a threat to their lives. They were at risk of losing their lives. But guess what! The initiator of the journey was, according to Mark’s account, on the cushion sleeping, appearing as though he was less concerned about their plight which threaten their lives. Excuse me! Wasn’t he the one who invited them on a journey with him? Here is he enjoying his sleep while they battle with a life and death circumstance. The Bible says “The disciples woke him and said ‘Teacher, don’t you care if we are drown?”
At times in life we find ourselves in a situation where we hear God instruct us to do something, and we obey and set out to do it, then in the course of doing what we were instructed to do, a “storm” arises. And we become confused, we’re like “was it not God that asked me to do this? Didn’t I hear Him well? Or “did I make mistake, where did I miss it?” All kinds of questions crop up in our head. That was exactly what happened to those disciples. Life’s storm are normal especially when we are in the perfect will of God for our lives. Every genuine obedience to God must be tested.
In Genesis chapter 12, God told Abraham to leave his country, his people and his father’s household and go to the land He will show him. The promise was “I will make you into a great nation and I will bless you, I will make your name great and you will be a blessing” (vs 1,2). Abraham obeyed God promptly and left as the Lord had told him. But verse 10 says that there was famine in the land – a severe one for that matter. That was his own “storm” and test for obedience.
In our boat and the storm story, the Bible says that when the disciples cried out to Jesus that they were about to perish, He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters, the storm ceased and all was calm. Are you experiencing any storm, any “contrary wind” situation in any area of your life right now? Cheer up, Jesus is in the boat of your life. All will be calm, that situation will not drown you. Jesus will rebuke that storm in your life. He will ensure you don’t die in the midst of your purpose. He cares about you. Just trust him, and call upon him. Jesus can’t be in a boat and it gets drowned. Because he’s in your boat, you’ll arrive “the other side”, you’ll get to your destination regardless of the storm. Look at what He says in John gospel 16:33 “… In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” Because he overcomes, we overcome too. Hallelujah!
Trouble in this life is inevitable. But be of good cheer he didn’t initiate that journey for you to go with him only to abandon you on the way. Wherever he has destined for you to get to, you will get there. No devil will stop you. No matter the hurdles or adversity you’re faced with, repeatedly say to yourself “I am unstoppable, I will arrive my destination”. Whatever He starts, He finishes. Hebrews 12:2 says that He is the author and finisher of our faith. “Faithful is he that calls you, who also will do it” (1Thess. 5:24). He’s the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.
INSIGHT: because He’s in your boat, you’ll arrive “the other side”, you’ll get to your destination regardless of the storm.

The Word (57)-sonship by Empowerment.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name ” (John 1:12).

Beloved 

I have observed that many people in the church lack the understanding of the concept of sonship of God and being a child of God. There is a big difference between a son and a child!

To become a son of God you need empowerment in Christ Jesus by the grace of God.
Prophet Isaiah enables us to know that a child is ‘born’ but a son is ‘ given’ (Isaiah 9:6). Please, find out the difference! Many believers speak proudly of being children of God, not knowing that they are not better than the unbelievers. By the grace of God, I would be able to address this issue in a future write up.
Are you a child of God or a son of God? Apostle Paul tells us that thou an heir, a child is NOT better than a servant ( Galatians 4:1).
“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not” ( 1John 3:1).

PRAYER

Father, please, give me the grace to know that I am your son in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.

The Word (56)-The Word of God is Eternal.

“Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away” ( Mark 13:31).

Beloved 

The word of God is the single most important thing in heaven and on earth. The prayer of every true believer is to make it to heaven. We currently enjoy living on earth despite all the wickedness going on. I believe we enjoy living on earth because even though all believers pray to go to heaven, very few believers are ready to die.
As important as heaven is in the scheme of God’s creation, our memory verse says heaven will pass away, even as this earth will pass away. The only thing that will never pass away is the word of God. This is an indication of how much God values His word. If you truly love God, then you will value and honour His word above every other thing.
Is the word of God your delight? Are you delighted when you see the Word of God. Does the word of God excite you and give you joy? Like the Psalmist confessed, without the Word, you are very vulnerable. Hold unto the word of God if you desire to be set free from all afflictions.

“Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction”(Psalm 119:92)

PRAYER

Father, please, give me the grace to value your word above all other things in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.

The Word (55)-IT IS WRITTEN!

“But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God” ( Matthew 4:4)

Beloved 

When Jesus was was tempted by the devil, the weapon He used to defeat him was : it is written (Matthew 4:4-11).
If you sufficiently meditate on the word of God, you will always know the right word of God to use whenever you are challenged by the devil or circumstances beyond your control. Remember that Jesus did not have to open a bible to read out the written word of God when he was tempted. The word of God in Christ, hidden in your heart, generates power.

The truth is that God is keen to make you a living word of God. It is the word of God in your heart that you can make use of when challenged. It is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks ( Matthew 12:34).
How often do you say: It is written? The word of God is your greatest weapon against everything contrary to the nature of God. We encourage you to store the word of God in your heart.
Yes, you are to become a living word of God:
“Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men…” (2Cor 3:2-3).

PRAYER

Father, please, give me the grace to always learn to say IT IS WRITTEN, when ever I am challenged in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
