Word for Today: Is Life really vanity?

Memory Verse

“Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity” (Ecclesiastes 1:2)

Dearly Beloved

The greatest man that ever lived at the time, king Solomon, known to be the wisest man at time said life is ‘vanity upon vanity ‘. He had this to say in verse 14:

“I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit” (Ecclesiastes 1:14).

A young person may wonder , if someone as wise as Solomon had the revelation that the entire life is vanity, why does he or she need to struggle?

Truly life without Jesus Christ, the Truth , is vanity upon vanity. Life without Jesus is full of crisis, regret and sadness, irrespective of qualifications, titles, and positions. It will eventually lead to hell, with regard to eternity.

However, life in Christ Jesus is NOT vanity upon vanity. Though Jesus was aware that he is of the genealogy of Solomon, he described Himself as someone ‘greater than Solomon’. Jesus revealed:

“The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here” ( Matthew 12:42).

Unfortunately, many ‘great’ preachers of our time have MIXED the message of the Old Testament with the New Testament. Jesus Christ is the beginning and the end of the law. He is the embodiment of the Old Testament and New Testament. I expect ‘Christians’ to be his true followers, by doing what he was doing while on earth.

There is no wisdom outside of Jesus Christ. He is the Way, the truth and the life. He is the only true source of wisdom.

In Christ Jesus, life is NOT vanity. He came that we may have life in abundance ( John 10:10b).

Stay connected with JESUS, the Word. He is the Way , the Truth and the Life.

Blood of Jesus. Thank you Jesus for your grace of abundant life.

Word for Today: Be doers of the word of Christ.

“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22)

Dearly Beloved

There are many Christians with good knowledge of the word of God , but who find it difficult to do what the word of God says. We may have knowledge of the word of God but still go to hell. The devil himself knows the word of God and can quote the bible profusely , as in the temptation of Jesus in Matthew 4:1-11. However, the devil does not obey the Word.

To what extent do you obey the Word? Do NOT merely read the word of God. Practice what it says. Be doer of the Word. Put the word of God into practice and let Him work for you. The Word says:

“For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was” (James 1:23-24).

Jesus Christ has given us divine principle to live victorious lives. Please, be guided by it:

“Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets” ( Matthew 7:12).

Word for Today: Get hungry & thirsty for righteousness.

Memory Verse

“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6).

Dearly Beloved

Jesus was/is a great teacher indeed. He is the final authority. Where do you get your instructions from?

One way of getting blessed, is to develop ‘thirst’ and ‘hunger’ for righteousness, and we know that Jesus Christ, the Word of God, is the righteousness of God for a fallen humanity. St James revealed that anyone who knows what is good and refuses to do it (when it’s within his/her reach), has sinned ( James 4:17).

There are many Christians who believe that because we are in the dispensation of grace, we don’t need to do anything as Jesus, the grace of God has done it all for us. This is a faulty belief. Yes, by grace we are saved through faith (Ephesians 2:8). By grace, we are who we are. But do we continue in sin so that grace may abound?

Developing thirst and hunger for the righteousness of God to be manifested in your life is a huge responsibility. You can only be filled to the extent that you are thirsty and hungry. You can choose to be blessed. How much hunger and thirst do you have for the righteousness in the word of God? You have a responsibility to love righteousness and hate iniquities. You will be filled to the extent of your hunger and thirst!

“Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant” ( Psalm 35:27).

Stay connected to JESUS, the Word. Be knowledgeable and wise. Be enlightened.

Become a DISCIPLE, AMBASSADOR and a MISSIONARY for Jesus Christ henceforth.

Have a blessed new day.

Ensure you think no evil against anyone.

Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

Prayer Point:

Our Father and our God, please give us the grace to have thirst and hunger for your righteousness in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
