Avoiding sexual Sin & Violation- by Bro Damola

Ministry of the word (MOW)
THEME:Avoiding Sexual Sin and Violation
Avoid taking advantage of someone else
MEMORY VERSE:Don’t violate or take advantage of a fellow believer in such matters. As we told you before and warned you: the Lord will settle the score with anyone who does these things.
1 Thessalonians 4:6

First Thessalonians 4:4-7 is about being sexually dishonest. Getting someone to sin with you is violating them, and God promises those who do these things will face consequences. Has someone taken advantage of you? Have you taken advantage of someone else? Here are some things God wants you to know about your responsibility to your sisters or brothers and how to avoid sexual sin and violation.
Flattery can be dangerous

Flattery means praise that is not honest. The person doing it always wants something in return. Is it okay to call another person ‘hot’ or ‘delicious’? It is not. These words describe food. Why use them for people? A person is not an object. Proverbs 6:26 describes how immorality makes objects of both of you: “…one is brought down to a loaf of bread.”

Love makes you pure

To know what true love is, we can look at God Himself. (1 John 4:8, 16). First John 3:16 says: “We know what love is because Christ gave His life for us. We should give our lives for our brothers.” Christ gave Himself up for us. (Ephesians 5:25-27) His sacrifice made His Bride pure. That is what love is. Leading someone into impurity is not love. Using a weak person and making them do shameful things is the opposite of love.
Lust is the death of love.

King David’s son Amnon thought he loved princess Tamar. He convinced David to send her to him while he pretended to be sick. “…he grabbed her and said, ‘Come to bed with me!’ ‘No,’ she said. ‘Don’t force me to do such a degrading thing! That’s awful! How could I ever hold up my head in public again? And you—you would be completely disgraced in Israel’ …he would not listen to her; and since he was stronger than she was, he overpowered her and raped her.” (2 Samuel 13:11-14).

Afterward, Amnon hated Tamar and sent her away. This act later led to Amnon’s death and war in the nation of Israel.

Are you worried that a relationship has gone wrong? There is hope: God is not just the example but the source of love, and he can redeem it.Turn away from sin to trust Him. If you ask, He will send the Holy Spirit, who will bring His love into your life. “Hope never makes us ashamed because the love of God has come into our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who was given to us.” (Romans 5:5)

Be Competent in Your Business-by Bro Erasmus E Eneyo

MOW
BE COMPETENT IN YOUR BUSINESS
“She considered a field, and buy it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard” (Proverbs 31:16).

Competence is the quality of being adequate or well qualified physically, intellectually and spiritually. It is the condition of being capable in ability.

Competence also means possessing the skills that are required for a task; having the capacity to function effectively in one’s task. Competence is the secret behind success in destiny. When there is no competence, business struggles and eventually goes down. Rise up and work towards competence, it is what makes the difference in life.
In Proverbs 22:29, the Bible says “Do you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people” (NLT).
Beloved, competence is the requirement for standing before kings. No competent person is permitted to end small in life.
What are the steps to competence in business?

(1) DISCOVER AN AREA OF INTEREST OR PASSION. “Passion for your house has consumed me, …” (Psalms 69:9 NLT). It is what you have passion for that you will work at tirelessly. There is an area of business that stirs your interest. Find that line of business and invest in it.
(2) GATHER ADEQUATE INFORMATION. “And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches” (Proverbs 24:24). When you lack adequate information and knowledge, failure and losses are inevitable. Enough knowledge secures the future of any venture.
(3) PURSUE YOUR AREA OF GIFT AND SKILL. “So Bezalel, Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the Lord has given skill and ability to know to carry out all the work …” (Exodus 36:1 NIV). You were not born empty. There is something you can do. Everyone God created, He gave a gift or talent.
(4) LEARN THE LANGUAGE OF THE BUSINESS: “Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge” (Proverbs 23:12). Give yourself to disciplined instruction and open your ears to tested knowledge.
(5) START SMALL AND GROW IN EXPERIENCE. “Though thy beginning was small yet thy latter end should greatly increase” (Job 8:7). Everything that is big today started small. You must be willing to start small.

Beloved, rise up and work on your competence level and everything about your life and business will take a new shape in Jesus name.
Receive more grace to be competent in your work in Jesus name(John 5:17).

Healthy and Unhealthy Thoughts.

Memory Verse:

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee” (Proverbs 23:7).

Beloved

O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. In Christ, God is really doing wonders. I will bless the Lord at all times. It may not be easy to believe or understand the works the LORD is doing in our generation ( Habakkuk 1:5).
This week, the Lord wants us to have better understanding of how to stay in good control of our thoughts. The personality of a man, is the sum total of his thoughts and imaginations . Your thoughts can make you or mare you. Your thoughts can build you or destroy you. Many people with mental health issues such as anxiety or depression often lack the understanding that their thoughts were unhealthy, before the onset of their depression or anxiety. Some patients actually believe that it is their negative emotions or feelings that give rise to unhealthy thoughts; the truth is that mental health symptoms are often preceded with unhealthy thoughts.
If I may ask you , in 24 hours, what are your predominant thoughts? Are your thoughts healthy or unhealthy. Are they filled with FAITH or DOUBT and UNCERTAINTY? How healthy are your thoughts? In mental health, we often call them positive and negative thoughts. Healthy thoughts generate good feelings. Unhealthy thoughts generate distress. Our thoughts originate from our mind. Our mind is often regarded as the battle ground between good and evil. Your mind is very capable of automatically originating good or evil thoughts, healthy or unhealthy thoughts, depending on your exposure and focus. What the mind consciously or unconsciously gets pre-occupied with, is stored in the heart, hence God often examines our hearts in order to know the true nature of a person. The words we speak out are usually a reflection of what has been stored in our heart. Our Lord Jesus Himself said: “for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh” (Matthew 12:34). Hence, the book of Proverbs reminds us: “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life” (Proverbs 4:23). We have to learn to constantly challenge and ‘fight’ unhealthy thoughts, using the weapon of the word of God (2Cor 10:4).
The good news is that no matter how ‘filthy’ or ‘dirty’ the mind of a person is, it could be transformed with the word of God. Our inward being( mind, heart & spirit), may be influenced or controlled by forces we know little about, such as things we do out of ignorance or things our parents did may link us with certain ancestral forces. Apostle Paul admonished all true believers to ensure that their minds are transformed: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:2). The same apostle Paul directed true believers to learn to arrest every unhealthy thought: “…and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ” (2Cor 10:5). Yes, our thoughts and imaginations must constantly surrender to Christ, until the mind of Christ is in us ( Phil 2:5-6).
In Christ Jesus, God has the best thoughts and plan for us: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” ( Jeremiah 29:11). God’s thoughts are different from man’s thoughts; God thoughts are always higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9), hence He is able to do abundantly above what we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
In conclusion , having received Jesus Christ, it is your responsibility to keep your mind and heart healthy in order to live a victorious life. As a person thinks so is he. Man is the sum total of his thoughts and imaginations. A healthy heart and mind are in unity and oneness with the mind of Christ. A mind of Christ is a mind of peace, joy, power, righteousness, purity, integrity, truth, faith, compassion, and love. May this mind be yours NOW in Jesus name, Amen.

To grow spiritually requires daily meditation with the word of God (Joshua 1:8) and seeking first the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Matthew 6:33). However, the first thing you must desire greatly is total spiritual freedom through the truth in the word of God ( John 8:32).

Prayer: There is someone reading this message, receive the grace to take every unhealthy thought captive to the obedience of Christ in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Learn to Avoid Frustration in the Church.

Ministry Of the Word (MOW)

Improving Our Spiritual Understanding
Theme: Learn to Avoid Frustration in the Church.
Memory Verse:

“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not” (Jeremiah 33:3)
Beloved

In Christ, we give God glory, honour and adoration for a new week of GRACE. This week, our Lord and Saviour wants His children to have more understanding of the basis for fellowship and to reduce feelings of frustration in the church.
In the course of my life, work and spiritual activities , this writer has met many children of God, who have expressed frustration with the church. The truth is that many Christians lack understanding of why they ‘go to church’. True, the Word counsel true believers to fellowship: “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching”(Hebrews 10:25).

Please, note the counsel of apostle Paul on ‘exhorting one another’ in the above text.
Recently, I went to assess an elderly lady in her late 80s at her home address (UK), and we were discussing the positive activities she occupies herself with during the day, normally termed Activities of Daily Living (ADL). We discussed how she spends each day from Monday. When she got to Sunday, she said: ‘I used to go to church on Sundays, I stopped because I fell out with the pastor’. We then talked through this with regard to how to reduce frustration in the church. Also, more recently, I was discussing with a fairly new spiritual son, resident in Nigeria, and he opened up to me. He told me he felt very relieved by the questions I was asking him, and how I was using the pure word of God to explain things to him. He confided in me that for a while, he has been reluctant to ‘go to church ‘, because he felt the pastor does not care , rather ‘too busy with the church ‘. Another, person told me he sees going to church as an obligation and would feel guilty if he did not go.
The big questions for every child of God therefore should be: Why do I have to go to church? Do I go to church for God? Do I go to church for myself? Do I go to church for the pastor? Do I go to church so that my neighbours and friends will know that I belong to one and perhaps, holds a high position? The answer is the word of God:

“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:17).
The word of God in comparing the Berean Christians with the Thessalonians has this to say: “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so ” (Acts 17:11). Thank God for the Christians in Berea, they were noble in character because each time they attended church, they will go back home to ‘search’ their bible to check if the message the pastor preached is in line with the word of God. I often wonder how many Christians do this now a days.
Brethren, do NOT focus on your pastor or the ‘men of God’ when you go to church, rather focus your mind on the word of God. Do not only go to church to RECEIVE; also have the mindset to GIVE. Remember the words of the Lord Jesus Himself: ” it is more blessed to give than to receive”(Acts 20:35).
We encourage everyone reading this message to learn to read and study the Bible regularly so as to be increasingly independently spiritually. Keep your focus and affection on things ABOVE(Col 3:2). Your pastor is a human being like you; he or she too needs your daily prayers. Do not be over dependent on him or her.
Also, we encourage everyone NOT to stop fellowship for any reason. Fellowship does not necessarily mean large group. No matter how small you think you are, God can actually use you to help your pastor if you are RICH in the word of God. God used Naaman’s maid to help captain Naaman in 2Kings 5. It is good to note that the present church is becoming a lot more liberal. Only yesterday, the 21 May 16, we heard that the Church of Scotland has voted to approve their clergy to have the opportunity to be in same sex marriage . You have free WILL and you are at liberty to choose which Church you belong. In my country of birth, Nigeria, no one can ever say there is paucity of churches! Please, be careful where you fellowship. Be careful who lays hand on your head.
To avoid frustration in the church, learn to keep your thoughts and mind focused on the word of God. Take your focus away from your challenges. Take your focus away from the weaknesses of your pastor. Take your focus away from people: “Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD” (Jeremiah 17:5).
Bless the LORD at all times! Call on Him and He will answer you and show you great and mighty things.
To grow spiritually requires daily meditation with the word of God (Joshua 1:8) and seeking first the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Matthew 6:33). However, the first thing you must desire greatly is total spiritual freedom through the truth in the word of God ( John 8:32)
Prayer: There is someone reading this message, receive the grace to avoid frustration as you keep your thoughts and mind focused on the Word in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
