Improving Our Spiritual Understanding

Memory Verse

“And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect” ( Genesis 17:1).

Dearly Beloved

In Christ Jesus, our God is perfect and He expects His children to walk with Him in perfection. Many Christians are unable to pay attention to details. They treat mistakes and errors lightly. A single mistake may be bad enough to end a person’s life prematurely. When God called Abraham, he was directed to pay attention to details and be perfect.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning” (James 1:17)

As you study the word of God, you should learn to pay attention to details and be diligent. Jesus Himself said:

“Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect” ( Matthew 5:48).

As for me, I “Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints…”(Ephesians 1:16-23).

Have a Spirit- filled weekend .

Be compassionate and kind to one another.

Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

Ensure you think no evil against anyone.

Thank you Jesus for the perfection in your word.

Prayer

Dear Father, we pray for everyone sincerely connected to your Word, that they may experience perfection in your word and that men may see their good works in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Yours in the Vineyard of Christ.

Word for Today: Be mindful of the FIRE in the word of God.

Word for Today :

Be mindful of the FIRE in the word of God.

Memory Verse

“Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces? ” (Jeremiah 23:29).

Dearly Beloved

Darkness is terrible. When you have a good look at the various crisis going on in the world today, you don’t need any one to remind you that there is darkness in this world. There is darkness everywhere, even among most of our leaders. A blind man cannot lead a blind man. The fire and the light we all need is in the word of God. Jesus said:

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil”.

Darkness is ignorance and ignorance is darkness. There can be no light without fire.

In darkness, your best friend can harm you significantly, without you knowing. Many people are afraid of light because it exposes their evil deeds. Jesus is the fire and the light of this world. The word of God says:

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” ( John 8:12).

If you sincerely have Jesus, then you should be on fire for the Lord. The fire in you should generate light for others to see. Remember that not everyone is ready to follow light, because light exposes. Spiritually speaking, without the word of God there is no light. The Psalmist revealed:

“The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple” ( Psalm 119:130). Please, see also Psalm 119:105.

Remember, if you play with fire carelessly, you get burnt: “For our God is a consuming fire” ( Hebrews 12:29).

Become a DISCIPLE , AMBASSADOR and a MISSIONARY for Jesus Christ as you go about your duties. Keep your focus on righteousness.

Have a Spirit- filled weekend .

Be compassionate and kind to one another.

Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

Ensure you think no evil against anyone.

Thank you Jesus for the light in YOU and for the gift of life.

Prayer Point

Dear Father, please help us to experience the fire in your word and to be a true source of light in a dark world in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Yours in the Vineyard of Christ.

Word for Today: ‘…not meat and drink…’

Word for Today: ‘…not meat and drink…’

Ministry Of the Word (MOW): True Spirituality (TS)

Memory Verse

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost” ( Romans 14:17)

Dearly Beloved

Christianity is very profound. Many people in the body of Christ today are superficial in their knowledge of God. Apostle Paul reminded us in our memory verse that the kingdom of God is to do with ‘righteousness, and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost ‘. Jesus is the embodiment of the kingdom of God. If you are a Christian and you are full of joy, please check the level of the Holy Spirit in you.

I often wonder why some pastors try to turn their churches into fund raising organisations in the name of raising money to do God’s work. Many of them are happy to be rated by earthly standard among the world richest people. Please, read the story in 2Kings 5:1-19, even before Jesus Christ, the Word, became flesh, men and women of God, like Prophet Elisha, existed who did not mix up the anointing of God with material things. Please, read further to remind yourself of what happened to his greedy personal assistant (Gehazi).

The kingdom of God is not about making money and building projects. The kingdom of God is not about being popular. Jesus is already popular and our own true popularity can only be derived from cleaving to Him.

Jesus was a profound teacher while on earth. Many people struggled and are still struggling to understand some of His teachings. For example he said:

“If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple” (Luke 14:26-27).

Please, we need to have understanding of these verses. Someone has asked me how Jesus could make such statements. Please, do not take some of the statements in the bible literally. Jesus was a profound teacher. The greatest teacher that ever lived. The gospel may appear simplistic but it’s very profound .

The truth is that Jesus often spoke in metaphor, figure of speech, parables when he was on earth. So do not take everything he said literally! The summary of what Jesus was saying in the two verses is that to be his true disciple we must be ready for self-sacrifice, pains, long-suffering, challenges, disagreement with loved ones etc. Any true follower of Jesus who is not ready to compromise, will have a lot of enemies, right from his family except all family members are strong in the Lord. To be a true disciple demands “a living sacrifice” ( Romans 12:1).

Carrying your cross daily is symbolic of the pains, traumas and discomfort you should be ready to go through as a soldier of the cross. Christianity is a spiritual warfare.

As far as Jesus was concerned, nothing should distract a disciple from doing the work of the Father.

“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God”(Luke 9:62).

Remember the man who was asking for permission to go and bury his father first before following Jesus: “But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead” (Matt 8:22).

“And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her” ( Luke 10:41-42).

Yes, the kingdom of God is not meat and drink…but in righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17).

Be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might ( Ephesian 6:10).

Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit.

Have a Spirit-filled week.

Thank you Jesus for waking me up today and for your word this morning.

Prayer Point

Father, we thank you for your words that have kept us alive. Please, help us to focus on things of kingdom rather than on earthly things in Jesus name. Amen

Word for Today: Our God reigns, let the earth tremble.

Word for Today:

Our God reigns, let the earth tremble.

Memory Verse

“The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved” (Psalm 99:1)

Dearly Beloved

Our God is awesome. He deserves to be feared, worshipped and adored. Let’s tremble before HIM.

“Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing” (Psalm 100:2)

“Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding” ( Psalm 47:6-7)

“God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness”( Psalm 47:8).

“Exalt the LORD our God, and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy” ( Psalm 99:9).

Yes, our God reigns!

“The LORD reigneth; let the people tremble: he sitteth between the cherubims; let the earth be moved” (Psalm 99:1).

To grow spiritually requires daily meditation with the word of God (Joshua 1:8) and seeking first the kingdom of God and its righteousness (Matthew 6:33).

Be compassionate, merciful and kind to one another.

Thank you JESUS for reigning over the affairs of men.

Prayer Point

Dear Father, give us the grace to tremble before your word in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

Yours in the Vineyard of Christ.
