Word for Today: Light (5)-True light and false light.

Memory Verse

“That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world” ( John 1:9).

Dearly Beloved

If there is true light, it stands to reason that there is false light. John gave a testimony of Jesus as the true light that lights every man that cometh into the world .

A big question is how do you know if a particular light is true or false ? The answer is in 1John 4:1:

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world” (1John 4:1)

The challenge with many Christians is that they do not having discerning spirit. They jump at everyone whose title is ‘pastor’, ‘evangelist’ or ‘apostle’. There are true apostles and there are false apostles (2Corinthians 11:13). The only way you can differentiate them is with the word of God in your heart and in your spirit.

All that glitter are not gold. Satan and his ministers can present as false light in order to deceive people. The Word says:

“And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works” (2Corinthians 11:14-15).

There is no darkness in Christ Jesus. Make the word of God your number one priority and see how impossible it is for any man to quench your light. No one can ever put off the true light in Christ Jesus.

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee” (Isaiah 60:1).

Word for Today: Light (4)-We are the light of the world.

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid” (Matthew 5:14).

Dearly Beloved

Christians are to reflect the light of Christ. A Christian who follows Jesus completely cannot walk in darkness. No doubt that every one prefers light to darkness. However, not everyone knows how to get light or how to sustain light. Please, note that we are talking about spiritual light here.

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” ( John 8:12). We see from our memory verse that Jesus transferred His mantle to all true believers.

There is no darkness in Christ Jesus. Make Jesus your number one priority and see how impossible it is for any man to quench your light. No one can ever put off the light in Christ Jesus:

“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ” Psalm 27:1).

Ignorance is darkness. The church need to be free of fear, doubt, unbelief, sickness, poverty, frustration, stagnation, failure etc . These are all products of darkness. Unbelievers should be able to run to the church and enjoy light.

Walking in the light of Jesus Christ is an individual responsibility:

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee” (Isaiah 60:1).

Word for Today: Light (3)-There is no darkness in God.

“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all ” (1John 1:5).

Dearly Beloved

God is light. There is no trace of darkness in God at all . There is no darkness in Christ Jesus.

I often wonder why there are so much dishonesty, pretences, deceits, hypocrisies , seductions and exploitations in the church. I often wonder why many preachers do not often quote: “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8), yet the scripture was given by Jesus Christ Himself . I often wonder why many preachers are very good at quoting Malachi 3:10, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it”. I often wonder why Jesus Christ Himself, never quoted this Malachi once through out His earthly ministry. Yet, the book of Malachi was already written. Please, ponder on it.

The church is meant to be an embodiment of light. The church is meant to be the epitome of purity and holiness. The church is meant to be the custodian of divine nature. There should be no trace of darkness in the church. I often wonder why there is so much darkness in the church. Please, if any reader of this message has revelations or understanding as to why the word of God is being ‘sold’ by men and women of God, under different guises, let him or she educate me. We receive the word of God freely. Why are we not giving the word of God freely to people.

True, if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into a pit ( Luke 6:39).

Ignorance is darkness; yet there is so much ignorance in the church. Fear, doubt, unbelief, sickness, poverty, frustration, stagnation, failure etc , are products of darkness. No wonder, these challenges are common in the church .

Only the truth can make you free indeed:

“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36).

The truth is that darkness cannot comprehend light:

“And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not” (John 1:5).
